Overview

The China Tourist Visa (L Visa) is required for U.S. citizens traveling to China for tourism, sightseeing, or visiting friends and family. As a full-service visa agency located near the Chinese Consulate in Washington D.C., we guide you through every step — from eligibility assessment to consulate submission.

Who Is It For?

Any U.S. resident planning a leisure trip to China, whether to explore famous landmarks, experience Chinese culture, or visit friends and relatives. The tourist visa is issued for single or multiple entries and is valid for up to 10 years for U.S. passport holders.

Processing Timeline

Standard processing takes 5–10 business days from consulate submission. Expedited processing (3–5 business days) is available for an additional fee — contact us for details.

Required Documents

  • Valid U.S. passport (6+ months validity beyond travel dates)
  • Completed China visa application form
  • Recent passport-sized photo (white background, 2×2 in)

How It Works

Stage 1 — Online Application & Pre-Approval

Step 1

Free Consultation

Contact us to discuss your travel plans. We assess your eligibility and answer any questions about the process.

Step 2

Document Collection

We provide a personalized document checklist based on your situation. Gather your documents at your own pace.

Step 3

COVA Application Submission

1–3 business days

We prepare and submit your application through China's official online visa system (COVA). Most applications are pre-approved on the first submission thanks to our experience.

Step 4

Pre-Approval Review

3–10 business days

The visa office reviews your COVA submission. Pre-approval authorizes your passport to be submitted for final processing — it does not mean the visa has been issued yet.

While awaiting pre-approval, we may ask you to mail in your passport so there's no delay once approval comes through.

Stage 2 — Embassy Processing & Visa Issuance

Step 5

Consulate Submission

5–10 business days

We submit your complete application package directly to the Chinese Consulate. Our proximity means faster turnaround.

Some cases may require additional administrative review at the Embassy's discretion. We notify you as soon as a decision is made.

Step 6

Visa in Hand

~2 business days (FedEx)

Your passport is shipped back to you via FedEx with tracking and signature confirmation. Your visa is ready — time to explore China.

Processing times vary by season and Embassy workload. Estimates above reflect typical cases. Actual times may be shorter or longer.
